Dr Dean Cugley is an Ophthalmologist with particular interest and expertise in Cataract Surgery, Medical Retina and Intraocular inflammation (Uveitis). He undertook medical training at the University of Tasmania (First class Honours) before completing Ophthalmology training in 2017. He undertook subsequent fellowship training in Medical Retina & Uveitis at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and in the United Kingdom at Bristol Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

Dr Cugley is the current supervisor of the Melbourne based registrar (Ophthalmology trainee), and an examiner for Ophthalmic Pathology for RANZCO. Dr Cugley is also the Secretary for the RANZCO Tasmania Branch and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at The Eye Hospital, Launceston. He is a member of the Uveitis Special Interest Group, and lectures to medical students and optometrists regularly. He has numerous publications and international presentations, and has a strong ethos for teaching.

When not at work, Dr Cugley enjoys spending time with family, sport and enjoying the great outdoors.years at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne before entering specialist training in Ophthalmology.
